This begs the question: why? What could Bungie possibly need a PC compatibility tester for? There are a few possibilities, some of which we’ve really been hoping for.

Back when Destiny was first announced, there was next to no mention of a PC version for the game, despite many questions being asked about one. After all, Destiny seems perfect for a PC if you think about it - it’s an FPS with MMO elements. It’s like a marriage made in PC heaven.

Bungie never didn’t consider a PC version though. Back in E3 2014 (just a few months before the game was released) in an interview with Polygon, Bungie said that a PC version was ‘something we’re talking about and looking at very carefully’.

After all, why wouldn’t they be? Opening the game up to yet another fanbase is a great way to increase profits and increase popularity…although I don’t know if Destiny needs anymore popularity. Or profits.

Even so, opening the game up to PC would include a whole host of new problems, so its pretty easy to see why Bungie would’ve avoided a PC port. Obviously the question of cross-platform play would up, and then there would be the whole keyboard/mouse vs. controller debate. It wouldn’t be like Rocket League where, if you’re playing it without a controller you’re doing it wrong. It’s an FPS at its core.

We can only hope that this means a PC version is a real possibilty. But without concrete word from Bungie, this is all speculation. If it doesn’t turn out to be Destiny finally coming to the PC, hopefully this means Bungie has a new project under wraps that includes the PC as well!
