In this Dysmantle guide, we’ll explain how to get all three. We’ve also included coordinates to help you find these resources faster.

How to Get Metal in Dysmantle

How to Get Iron

The most common way to get steel and titanium requires you to first collect iron. There are plenty of ways to find iron in Dysmantle, though the most efficient way is by dismantling.

Most of everything you can find around the world can be dismantled to attain resources like metal. This works not only for iron, but also for the stronger metals and other materials like plant matter and wood.

Iron typically comes from smaller metal objects, such as lockers, sinks, hydrants, appliances, signs, and other objects of roughly these sizes.

Usually, these items will drop between one and two iron, though larger things like basketball hoops, mall signs, tent frames, and metal gates can drop four or more. The most valuable object to dismantle for iron is the sawmill, which will drop 30.

Aside from dismantling pieces of metal, you can also get iron from enemy drops:

Ex-Human Leaper: 50% chance Ex-Human Puker: 50% chance Ex-Human Stalker: 50% chance Tomb Guard: 75% chance Machine Gun Turret: Two iron Rocket Launcher Turret: Two iron

Similarly, it can be found as loot in buried treasures or timed crates around the world, so keep an eye out for those as you play.

If you’ve found that you’ve accumulated a lot of scrap metal during your playthrough but don’t know what to do with it, it can actually be thrown into a smelter to refine into iron. Smelters can be found in a few select places around the world, all of which require the gas mask to reach:

878º, 595º 625º, 448º 469º, 122º 252º, 823º

Throwing 12 pieces of scrap metal into the smelter will create one iron ingot after 25 seconds. To fuel it for 25 seconds, you can use plant matter (provides five seconds of fuel each), scrap wood (provides 15 seconds of fuel each), or wood (provides 40 seconds of fuel each).

How to Get Steel and Titanium

In the exact same vein as above, steel and titanium can be attained from refining metal in a smelter. Refining eight iron ingots will create one steel ingot after 50 seconds, while refining four steel ingots for one minute and 15 seconds will yield one titanium rod. While this is the main way to obtain these steel and titanium, it isn’t the only way.

Like iron, steel can be dropped by enemies, though it is much rarer. The only enemy that can drop steel is the Tomb Guard, which has a 25% chance of doing so. It too can be found in buried treasures and timed crates throughout the world, much like iron.

Dismantling certain metal objects is also a very good way to get steel, though you will need to dismantle larger objects for steel. Garage doors, large poles or pipes, cars, or cargo containers will drop between one and three steel. To get more than three steel at a time, you’ll have to target massive objects like buses, train cars, turbines, cranes, or towers.

Titanium can only be obtained from dismantling one item: the smelter. Doing so will give you one titanium. However, this is not at all worth it, as the smelter itself can be used to refine much more titanium. Instead, focus on refining and looting to obtain titanium. This metal can not be obtained from any enemy drops.

Here is a list of known loot locations where you can find titanium.
